St. Patrick's Day is the perfect ocassion to go green... as in cocktails, of course!
Whether you're in "sip" of a classic Irish mule or just something green, festive and easy -- like the Midori + Barritt's below, here are three easy, breezy must have drinks to keep you well hydrated this St. Patrick's Day.
Irish Mule
When you celebrate St. Patrick's Day with an all day party, it's important to keep your St. Patrick's Day Ginger Beer Cocktail of choice simple and delicious, of course.
Enter the Irish Mule, an easy to make, easier to drink mule that calls for just two ingredients: The best ginger beer this side of Bermuda -- Barritt's, of course -- Irish Whiskey... and ice!
Here's how to build your Irish Mule:
- 2 oz. of Irish Whiskey
- 4 oz. of Barritt's Ginger Beer
Build in given order. Garnish with lime and "Sip me, I'm Irish!"
Lucky Mint Julep
The Mint Julep is said to have originated in the southern United States, probably during the eighteenth century, but that doesn't mean it can't hit the spot for the Feast of Saint Patrick.
The key to making your Mint Julep "lucky" is using a mix of Barritt's Ginger Beer and a fine Irish Gin, such as Glendalough Distillery's Seasonal Gin, a distillery set up by five friends from Wicklow and Dublin.
Here's how to make a Lucky Mint Julep:
- Leaves of one bunch of mint
- 2 T sugar
- 2 T fresh lime juice
- 300ml Glendalough Distillery Seasonal Gin
- 12 oz. of Barritt's Ginger Beer
Muddle mint, sugar and lime juice. Half-fill six glasses with crushed ice and add 50ml of gin to each. Stir in mint mixture and top each drink with 2 oz. of Barritt's. Garnish with mint and serve.
