You know the heart of summer has officially hit when the Fourth of July is on your mind. Nothing says summer quite like munching on sweet treats while soaking up the sun and celebrating the great nation that we live in. We’re sharing a few of our favorite sweet treats to enjoy with your favorite ginger beer cocktails while you get festive for the fourth.
Firework Kabobs via The Baby Bump Diaries
Ingredients:
Blueberries
Seedless watermelon
Set of mini skewers
Star cookie cutter
Directions:
Slide blueberries onto the stick with the pointed end of the skewer facing up. Use the cookie cutter to create a star shape out of the watermelon. Place at the top of the pointed end of the skewer.
Patriotic Popcorn via Two Sisters Crafting
Ingredients:
10 cups popped popcorn
3 tbsp. butter
3 cups mini marshmallows
Red and blue regular M&M’s
Red and blue pretzel M&M’s
Red, white and blue sprinkles
Directions:
Melt butter in a saucepan before adding in marshmallows. Once all marshmallows are melted, remove from heat. Fold 3/4 of marshmallow mixture into popcorn until covered. Lay popcorn onto cookie sheet and drizzle with remaining marshmallow mixture. Pour M&M’s, sprinkles and extra marshmallows over top.
American Flag Marshmallow Pops via Two Sisters Crafting
Ingredients:
Marshmallows
Wilton candy melts in red, royal blue and bright white
Star sprinkles
Lollipop sticks
Directions:
Melt bright white candy melts in microwave. Place two marshmallows on the lollipop stick and dip into melt mixture. Allow candy to harden and add a third marshmallow to the stick. Repeat the procedure with the royal blue melts on the third marshmallow. Press white star sprinkles onto royal blue marshmallow and set aside to dry. Melt red candy melts in a plastic bag, cut off tip and drizzle over the white part of the pops.
Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries via Dessert Now Dinner Later
Ingredients:
24 strawberries
8 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
Directions:
Cut stems from the strawberries so they can lay flat before cutting a deep “X” from the tip down. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla in a bowl. Pipe the filling into the top of the strawberries before topping with a blueberry. Chill before serving.
Red, White & Blue Bark via The Chunky Chef
Ingredients:
16 oz bright white candy melts
6 oz royal blue candy melts
6 oz red candy melts
Red, white and blue M&M’s
Crushed Oreos
Red, white and blue sprinkles
Directions:
Line a 9x13” baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray very lightly with cooking spray. Microwave white candy melts until smooth and pour onto baking sheet. Melt red and blue candy melts in separate bowls until smooth. Alternate drizzling red and blue melts in vertical lines over top of white melts. Use a small skewer to swirl melts together. Sprinkle with Oreos, M&M’s and sprinkles. Refrigerate until hard. Remove bark from pan and break into pieces.
